Yamaha Baby Grand, Model C2, 2011, SOLD!
This is a larger one-owner baby grand with a polished ebony finish which still is like a mirror! We babied the finish, there are no scratches anywhere to be seen! The piano was used by a professional musician, who took immaculate care of her instrument. It has been tuned regularly, and holds tune amazingly well. This is like a new piano at about half the price! A new C2X lists at $44,000! The serial number- 6295078- indicates a piano made for the US Market in 2011.
One of the features we liked is a slow-fall fall board (key cover) which will prevent injured fingers! Check out this old page from the Yamaha website which lists some of the other features of this piano (article from 2007).
"Specific improvements to the Conservatory Series include a stronger plate flange and harder rim materials, both of which enable a more powerful sound with improved sustain; a new music desk; brass lid prop cups; a smoother inner rim and a new plate color.
Beyond overall improvements to the entire Series, the new C1 and C2 models now feature wood composite sharps and a new form of Ivorite keytops. Along with the characteristics of traditional Ivorite, these keytops have the ability to absorb moisture while offering the feel of ivory keys. These new key features combine to create the tactile feeling of a traditional keyboard.
The C1 and C2 models additionally feature vertically laminated bridges to help transfer the vibrations of the strings to the soundboard. The bridges use two types of wood to aid the transfer of lower and higher-pitched vibrations. Maple bridge caps have also been incorporated for premium sound and stability."
For pianists in the know, this is an instrument with an incredibly even action, and a wonderfully vibrant, clear, warm and consistent sound. Yamaha pianos hold their value better than almost any other, and this piano, in this condition, is worth every cent, both as an instrument and as an investment.
