Piano Tuning
An acoustic piano should be tuned two times a year. Particularly in the Northland, pianos undergo great shifts in temperature and humidity, which cause the wood in the instruments to shrink and swell. There is a lot of wood in a piano! We recommend some simple precautions which will help your instrument stay in the best condition possible. Keep the piano away from direct heat sources and, if possible, out of direct sunlight. Try to maintain a constant humidity throughout the year. That usually means adding humidity in winter. Place the instrument against an interior wall. Even with great insulation, the outside walls can transfer temperature changes to the wood. And finally, have your piano tuned regularly! Call Duluth Fine Pianos at 218-355-8320!
