Mason & Hamlin BB 1927, Walnut, Completely Restored!
$39,999.00
Restored by Keylard & Sons of Northlake, IL, in 1991, this piano has been sitting still in a climate-controlled home for the last 30 years, hardly played. It has virtually no hammer wear! In spite of that, it was tuned religiously twice a year. The original paperwork from the restoration is on hand, as are many of the tuner receipts and comments. The piano tuner loved this piano!
Mason & Hamlin Model BB pianos are still considered among the best pianos in the world. The price of a new one is over $110,000.00. When M&H started reconsidering their manufacturing process in the 1990s, they looked at the specifications of the 1927s and tried to imitate them! These were the standard bearer of M&H and the culmination of 70 years of piano building experience. It is truly a Golden Age piano.
This piano is extraordinary! The restoration was lovingly and expertly done. The original soundboard is still intact- refinished with a new decal. You have to play it to experience the wonder of the Mason & Hamlin Tension Resonator. The bass rivals most 9' concert grands, the singing treble is beautiful, ringing. The overall tone is majestic, clear, powerful, nuanced, warm. Mason & Hamlin got it right!
So did Keylard & Sons. There are new keytops, new repetitions, new strings, hammers and pin block. The finish is almost like new. The original bench was protected and looks almost like new. This piano is a testament to the value of great workmanship by Mason & Hamlin, but also by the restorers. Don't take my word for it! Make an appointment and come see and hear for yourselves!
